Another new face has arrived through the door at Retford FC with the experienced 33 year old central defender Nico DeGirolamo being added to the squad from Hallam FC.
DeGirolamo has previously played for Heanor Town, Mickleover, Grantham Town, Matlock Town and Buxton FC and has been a key player for Hallam FC over the last couple of seasons.
He said, “I’m looking forward to being involved at Retford FC. I’ve heard good things about the club and can see it moving forward and looking at promotion so hopefully I can help achieve this.”
Manager Chris Woodhead can’t wait to put him into action for the Choughs, “I’m a big fan of Nico who is a centre half that can play football and will suit our way of playing.”
“He’s got a good pedigree with his brother also playing at a high level of football, but with Nico in our squad I know we have added someone who will be a thorn in the side of a lot of strikers and I am glad to have signed him as I know there were other teams who were vying for his signature.”
“I’ve been looking for another centre half for a while and the signing of Nico is the final part of the jigsaw that’s now put into place and I’m happy with the squad we’ve got to take us forward for this season.”
Nico will not be in the squad for tomorrow’s game against Rossington Main in the FA Vase, but should feature on Bank Holiday Monday against Clay Cross Town.
We would like to thank Hallam FC for helping us get the signing over the line and they will still hold his registration for the NCEL at step 5.
