After six years,170 games and 13 goals, Retford FC can confirm that defender Haydn Goddard is to leave the club.
Goddard made his debut against Askern Welfare (away) in August 2018 and was an integral part of the squad that helped the Choughs lift the Central Midlands League title and promotion to the NCEL in the same season.
Chris Woodhead said, “Haydn has been with me for the last six seasons and I’ve loved working with him. He was a massive part of the promotion squad and he is someone I will miss dearly now he won’t be with our first team. He is a winner and with the competition for places this season, he feels that it was time to move onto pastures new and seek opportunities at higher levels. I’d like to thank him for everything he has done here at the club and wish him well in his future endeavours.”
Although he will be leaving the playing staff, he will continue to be part of the Retford FC family and will continue to run the soccer schools and be deeply involved with the junior section so will still be around the club on a regular basis alongside playing for a new club.
The club would like to wish Haydn all the best and look forward to our continued relationship with the junior section.
