Danny Patterson Returns as Assistant Manager
After a remarkable 24-year career in non-league football, boasting numerous titles and cup triumphs, Retford FC are delighted to confirm the return of non-league legend Danny Patterson, who comes out of his short pre-season retirement to take up the role of Assistant Manager alongside Chris Woodhead.
Patterson’s experience, leadership, and passion for the game made a lasting impression last season, and his appointment marks an exciting step forward for the club’s coaching setup.
Manager Chris Woodhead said:
“When Danny came in last season, I saw his winning mentality on the pitch and he was a huge presence in the changing room. I knew that if an opportunity presented itself, I would love to bring him into the management team.”
This change comes as Adam Chapman steps down from his role as Assistant Manager. While Adam is stepping back from the frontline coaching role, he will remain involved with the club, contributing to both the first team and under-21 setup.
Woodhead added:
“I’d like to thank Adam for everything he did last season – he was a real character to work with and I’m sure he will have learnt a lot. Adam stepping down was unexpected and I had to move quickly, and I was straight in contact with Patto to make sure we had a seamless transition. I know he’ll pick up where Adam left off. And let’s just say – he will be keeping in shape, just in case we need him back on the pitch!”
Welcome back, Patto!
