Not only are upgrades being made at Retford FC’s SL2 Rail Stadium, the Juniors are also benefitting from a Football Foundation grant that has seen the start of works on the pitches on Ordsall Road to make them some of the best surfaces in the area.
The grant of £65,000 over the next six years has seen the start of pitch maintenance with 80 tonnes of (wait for the technical bit…) 70/30 rootzone applied with double disc four pass verti drain set to be completed over the weekend.
Working with Bothams Prestige, sports pitch renovation and grounds maintenance, who work at some of the areas largest sports facilities including Doncaster Rovers and Doncaster Racecourse, the club will see much improvement to the facilities at the juniors ground.
Pep Leone, Chairman of Retford FC Juniors said, “I’d like to thank the Football Foundation for the grant as this will only make our playing facilities better. With the recent erection of fencing around the ground it not only keeps our players safe on matchday’s but also protects the pitches and this work will make such a difference to everyone that uses the facility.”
“A huge thank you to Bothams Prestige who have worked tirelessly to get the works done and I can’t wait until our players can start to see the benefit of this for years to come.”
