Retford FC complete first signing of the summer

Retford FC have completed their first signing of the new season with the arrival of the highly rated midfielder Ahmed Tahar from Clay Cross Town.

Part of the Clay Cross title winning side last season, the 26 year old scored 26 goals in an almost ever present 46 games including a goal against the Choughs in the 3-3 draw early last season.

He has plenty of experience having played at Worksop Town, AFC Mansfield, Parkgate FC and Carlton Town and knows many of the current Retford squad so should fit right in when pre-season training starts.

Chris Woodhead said, “I’m so glad we got this over the line. There were several clubs in contact with Ahmed during the summer but he spoke to us, came and had a look around and signed that evening.”

“He will give us another dimension moving forward and with 26 goals last season from midfield he will help our goal tally which we know has been one of our issues in previous seasons.”

“I’m looking forward to working with him and I know a lot of the lads are delighted that he’s chosen to come to us.”

Ahmed said, “I had several offers from clubs at this level and higher, but once I met with Woody and had a look around it ticked all the boxes and I didn’t really need to think about anything else so I’m happy to be here and help Retford push on again this season to go one step further.”
