Retford FC is delighted to announce that first team player Richard Patterson will be joining the Under 21s coaching staff as the new Under 21 coach for the 2025/26 season. Richard brings a wealth of experience to the role, having been an integral part of the first team setup and a role model for younger players.
Richard’s appointment is a natural progression, reflecting the club’s philosophy of developing from within and ensuring a seamless connection between the Under 21s and the senior squad. His understanding of the club’s playing style and his dedication to player development will be instrumental in helping the next generation of Retford FC players reach their full potential.
Under the continued leadership of Manager Martin Woodhead and Assistant Manager Adam Chapman, the Under 21s are well-placed to build on last season’s strong performances and third place finish in the Worksop Van Hire North Midlands Development League.
Speaking about the appointment, Manager Martin Woodhead said:
“We’re really pleased to have Richard on board. He’s someone who understands the club and has an excellent understanding of what we’re trying to achieve here. His experience as a first team player and his leadership qualities will be a huge asset to the Under 21s. I have no doubt that he’ll make a significant impact on the development of our younger players.”
Retford FC would like to extend a warm welcome to Richard in his new role, and we look forward to seeing him help the Under 21s squad be successful in the coming season.
